We will try to give you some information about us and the
history of how B2B Direct was developed and why. First, Let us tell you that as
far as we have been able to determine, we are the only direct mail marketing
company to use this system to advertise business to business. There are several direct mail marketing firms that use this
system to advertise from business to consumer.
About
B2B Direct Mail Marketing
B2B Direct is the product of one and
a half years of research and development. We have been in the general
merchandise business for over 20 years selling directly to retailers in our
traveling area and have had a web presence for approximately 5 years. During
this time we have used various methods of advertising to increase sales beyond
the local sales route including trade publications, trade shows, pay per click
and a host of other methods.
All of these methods proved to be expensive and the
results were sometimes good and other times not so good. It seemed that the
investment was not justified by the return although the overall growth factor
was satisfactory.
One of the methods of advertising
that produced good results was Direct Mail Advertising which we did on a small
scale since it was costly to do a large scale campaign. We used lists compiled
from the internet which proved to be out of date making our results less
effective than they could have been.
We felt that Direct Mail Advertising was
the way to go, but the cost of a large scale campaign was beyond our reach. One
day, we received a direct mail piece that was full of advertising sheets from a
lot of local businesses with special offers to get you to come to their stores
and places of business. You have probably received these too.
These companies
subscribed to this mailing and were able to take advantage of the cost sharing
principal that the mailer had shown them they could get.
Well, we decided to find a company
that could do this for us, except instead of advertising to consumers like the
packet we received, we wanted to advertise to the retailer using this same
method of cost sharing. Actually, we were unable to find a company that could do
this. We found hundreds of companies that would develop a direct mail campaign
just for us, but that was not what we needed.
So, we began to research the direct
mail industry and learned how to develop this type of campaign. We found out
what makes a good campaign, what the key elements were, even down to the color
of the envelope.
We made the decision to start B2B Direct Mail Marketing with
the idea in mind that we could make it the most affordable, most effective
business to business advertising available. And by limiting the number of
advertisers in each category group, it would be even more effective. It took us
several months to have all the design work completed and contract all of the
work that goes into preparing and completing a category mailing every month in
up to seven category groups.
